Guess the fibre
Viscose sold as "art silk" looks like silk and behaves like wet paper. If we are not certain, we test before anything gets wet.
RugMaster started as a one-van operation in Kempton Park. Four decades later the plant is bigger, the equipment is better and the chemistry is independently certified, but the reason for doing it has not moved an inch.
Most cleaning companies lead with the equipment. We prefer to start with the reason any of it matters, because that is what has kept a small Kempton Park business trading since 1985.
A wool carpet is a fifty-year purchase that can be destroyed in ten minutes by an alkaline product and too much water. We exist so that the difference between those two outcomes is not left to chance.
Fibre identification, dye-bleed testing, pH-matched chemistry, controlled moisture and measured drying, on every job, whether it is one rug or four floors. We put ourselves through WoolSafe's independent testing rather than simply claiming to be careful.
In homes across Gauteng and in offices, hotels and venues that cannot afford to close. Fine rugs come to the plant; everything fitted is cleaned where it lies. Two divisions, one standard.
There is no complicated growth story. RugMaster grew because one client recommended us to her daughter, and because facilities managers took us with them when they changed buildings. A good number of our clients have been with us for fifteen, twenty and more years, one of them told us recently it had been eighteen.
That only works if the answer is the same every time. It is why we would rather tell a client that a mark is permanent dye loss than take the money and hope. It is why we invested in WoolSafe approval when very few clients in South Africa asked for it. And it is why the owner is still the person you end up speaking to.
Fitted carpets and upholstery we clean where they are. Rugs come to us, because the dusting, washing and drying that a hand-knotted rug needs cannot be done in somebody's lounge.

Most of what goes wrong in this trade is not a lack of equipment. It is a willingness to guess.

Bleach spots, sun-oxidised fibre and old urine burns are permanent. You will hear that before we quote, not after we have been paid.
Soaking a carpet is the fastest clean and the shortest-lived one. Shrinkage, delamination and wicking all start with too much water.
A hand-knotted rug needs dusting, a dye test and controlled drying. None of those happen on a wand pass in a living room.
Approved products cost the same as unapproved ones. There is no argument for the alternative, and a wool warranty usually requires them.
Ask us something difficult about your carpet. It is the fastest way to work out whether we know what we are doing.
